Fear makes us stronger

    Rugby is my sport, when it comes to playing rugby, being faced with violent situation is inevitable. Take a second and think of it, there is a six feet two and 200 lbs opponent is running to you with a speed of 11 seconds in 100 meters, and you have to stop him. Does this not make you though? even though, I have played rugby more than 10 years. Every time like this makes me though but the thing that makes you feared makes you stronger as well. According to Mobbs(2016), when we perceive something is dangerous or scary, our brain started to be ready for it, such as secreting adrenaline, blood pressure rises and growth of heart rate. In fact, this physiological mechanism gets us to be prepared against what would be happened in the future. Namely, I can say that facing a fear sounds not fun but it makes us stronger.

Basketball

   My favorite sport is basketball. I went to TRECS to play basketball twice a week. Fristly, I can make friends in different countries. Together we exchange basketball and culture. It can help me know more cultures and increas my English levels. Then playing basketball can release my pressure thie week. Becaues when I play basketball, I will not think angthing. Just thinking how to defend and attack. Finally, the most important thing is keep fit. Playing basketball can make me have a healthy body and a healthy life. So I love to play basketball, this is part of my life.

Sugar Drinks

When you are thirsty, what kind of drinks do you usually have? Some students like carbonated drinks like Coke. However, according to Healy (2016), these beverages are contained much sugar, and too much soda might cause diabetes. Have you ever seen pictures like this? This picture shows how much sugar is contained in juice. You will be shocked after you see this. Every soda and juice contain these lots of sugar. I know juice is tasty, but taking too much sugar is harmful for your health. I recommend to drink tea or water to maintain your healthy body and avoid diabetes.

Today's blog is about valley ball game.

I played valleyball game with ELI friends at the trex. There was three games on once a week. First game was no bad. I didn't leave a strong impression on the game honestly. Second game, Every one was nervous because our opponet look like strong and one of the opponet weared championship T-shirt. The fact is they were very strong. They gave us a strong serve many time and we lost the game. 

However, third game was very fun because we could fight with our's strength and we had gotten many points. WE WON!...so we have a another game next week. I'm exciting next game. I hope that we will win.

          In a week, The presidential election of the U.S will happen! I am really excited that I am in the U.S when it happens. However, because I am a foreigner, I have no background information of it, so I am going to write about it. 

          At first, we need to understand how it works. It is not the competition to get more votes, but it is more important to win in more states. Every states gets some number of votes depending on population except for Maine and Nebraska. For instance, California gets 55 votes because it has 39,000,000 population in the state. In contrast, Wyoming gets only three votes because it has only 585,000 people. Therefore, if a person gets even one more vote than another one in California, the person gets 55 votes. 

          Normally, each state has its own preference, so California and New York usually support Democratic, in contrast to Oklahoma and Tennessee that support Republican. One interesting thing is there are only around ten swing states among all sates. 'Swing states' means they could vote either part, Democrats or Republicans. Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania are representatives of the swing states. Therefore, the result of those swing states is really important!

          It is going to be really nice just to watch this big event in the U.S!

STUDENT WRITING IN THE DIGITAL AGE

This generation has  grown up with a lot technologies on their hands,  it has made parents and teachers anxious or upset. Their biggest concert is that “kids these days”  will be not able to present elaborated essays due to the technology affects their intellectual development however the studies shows the opposite. In an existing study of  students  that was produced by Andre  A. Lunsford and Karen J. Lunsford “Mistakes Are a Fact of Life: A National Comparative Study”  (from an quantity of 162 words in 1917, to 422 words in 1986, to 1,036 words in 2006) It show clearly that students using digital technologies such as cell phones, internet, social sites, laptops have become better writers.

In reaction to the results above mentioned, professors Lunsford and Lunsford, they  proposed a new study  nevertheless to their amazement the college students maintain equivalent errors that them did in 1917. The study, about writing was based on common errors; spelling, capitalization, punctuation, apostrophes, etc The results surprised the teachers, they visualized the fact that college students write fast and a great quantity of papers in comparison to the students in the past.

Gender gap in math starts in kindergarten

    According to a study published by the American Education Research Association, Gender gaps in math accomplishment and teacher expectations begin to crystallize since kindergarten. Teachers continuously underestimated girl's math abilities. Even though the gender gap begins early among high-achieving math students, the idea, boys are stronger than girls, is accepted to all elementary school students. Based on societal expectation, there is tendency for elementary school girls to follow behavioral roles of school closely, Weinberg said. In order to fix it, being aware of unconscious biases and behaviors of educators and parents is critical step of diminishing the gender gap in math.

Hi, today i want to talk about my country, about our culture. Colombia have a big culture, because we have  a mixture of different culture around the world. But our culture is characterized to be a happy culture. In fact according with studies we are the happiest country in the world. Thats awesome!!! also depends in what part of Colombia you are. The culture is diferent, in the coast the peoplE is so friendly they are so kind, in the center of Colombia, the people is more welcoming, but in my city Cali is ubicated close to the coast but close to the center to, we are party people, always we need to celebrate something, bad or good, doesnt matter we always make a party and i think thats great because dont let you feel sad never.

Hi! Today, I'm talking about Hip-Hop dance of Korea!! Actually, Hip-hop is specific culture of America (especially black people), but it has affected to whole world very strong. Korea is one of the country which is affected. So if I talk about Korean Hip-Hop, I have to talk about history how to be affected, but it is not interesting. So I will introduce my favorite Hip-Hop dancer in Korea!!

His name is J-black, and he is one of the famous Korean dancer. I'm really really big fan of him. And also, I was his student before I came the U.S. Yes he was my teacher!!

Most people, even some successful entrepreneur, can believe this that Facebook have achieved $ 27 billion this year. To get some detailed financial report, they have $7 billion revenue at the end of third-quarter. Its top line growth is as twice as some big company. Facebook decides to reduce the ads which show when people look though their pages. And they are willing to have more and more active users who can post and watch more videos online. People gradually concern the growth of the revenue of Facebook will decline, since they plan to cut the investment on ads which is their majority resource of revenue at least last two years.

My first experiences with Halloween

 In Hungary we don't celebrate Halloween so it was a new thing for me.

We have a fall break at this time in October because we have a national holiday called 23 of October. It was a war in my country and we celebrate our "heroes". On the first of November we celebrate our family members who can not be with us anymore so we go to the graveyard bring some flowers and set on fire a candle.In Hungary this time of the year is kinda sad, but in the United States this Holiday is funny.

I went to Goodwill to find a cheap costume for my first Halloween, and I did find a nurse dress for only 4 dollar. I was so so so happy! I saw so many videos about the US Halloween, so I thought that I have to be scary because at this time of the year scary is funny, and cool. I can do a Special Effect make up, so the scary part was easy for me. I did my make up, and dressed up, and went to an International Halloween Party with my new friends. It was really funny. But it wasn't on the real date of Halloween so I did not see so many people in costume. It was awesome by the way. On 31th of October I did dress up as a nurse again, and went to ELI. So many people looked at me like a crazy person on the trolly, but somany cars were stopped and who drives the car said I look really awesome. I really enjoyed that day, and now I have a lot of candyyyy!!!!

Universities are a good target for information, students submit all their data and also their parents. It is important that the administrators in education invest money to protect students. Dispite  of the frequent cyber-attacks, 25% of the schools are vulnerable.

The most terrifying and frightening, thing about hacking is the quality of being able to resurrect the past. Any message sent or emit on the network is in risk. Is students be responsable for the electronic use. We must be extremely  careful with personal information.

So what is the solution?  

A good initial  step could be, the Universities face the problem and find a company to do the job in addition to the engineer department and the only defense we have against hackers, is leaving them little to attack or reveal.

The fall is a beautiful time of year to go HIKING!

Throughout my life, some of my greatest experiences have taken place in the scenic National Parks, especially Ulsan Bawi and Chimney Tops. Ulsan Bawi is located in Seorak National Park (Seorak Mountains); this is one of the best mountains in Korea. The other, Chiminey Tops, is located in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. I would like to take a moment to share these two places with you. 

 The highest elevation of Ulsan Bawi is about 950m and Chimney Tops is about 1450m (4753 feet). There are several similarities between Ulsan Bawi and Chimney Tops even though they are located on separate continents, thousands of miles apart. First, to reach the Ulsan Bawi and Chimney Tops you have to climb many rocks. Rock climbing is the most difficult part of the hike, but it is worth it to be able to relax in nature. Second, you can see as far as the East Sea of Korea, and all of the Seorak Mountain range when you are on top. Similarly, you can see all of the Smokey Mountains on Chimney Top.

Today is November 1^st and the fall is a beautiful time of year to go HIKING!

  A big event of every fall is Halloween in the U.S. Pumpkin is well known as a symbol of Halloween, so you can see pumpkins every where in Halloween. Many zoos, also, place pumpkins with animals, and they show them to people. What do you think about this reason? The first reason why they put the pumpkin with animals is there are good effects to the animals. It makes animals think wildly by putting a new things. Small animals crawl in an empty pumpkin and birds explore inside of it. Elephants stomp on the pumpkins with their feet or polar bears play with them in the water.  Also, animals can practice to find foods and hunt small creatures. The second reason is to notice people about their conservation efforts the animals. Zoos made wild environment to animals for saving species. People should know significance of animals conservation.

    New Year's Day is the beginning of the new year. The New Year's Day in most countries is January 1st, but in China it is not. Chinese New Year is the lunar calendar in January 1st. On this day, children will receive money. All people will wear new clothes to welcome the new year in China. Most people spend the New Year in their home. The whole family eat dinner and watch the Spring Festival evening party. After the New Year, people go to visit friends. Hello friends, I’m Nimesh, You know that i’m from India. Today is October 31 and for Indian people today is New Year. Yesterday was Diwali, Diwali is festival of light, love, peace, joy, prosperity. Why we celebrate Diwali ? What is Diwali ? I know you got a question. First of all, Diwali is signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, Knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. We celebrate including millions of lights shining on housetops, outside doors and window, around temples and almost all places. Here are some images so you can understand batter. In the first image you will see some lamps and there are women are making beautiful place in front of god. That place is temple.

In addition to diwali, before diwali night, people clean, renovate and decorate their homes and offices. On diwali night, people dress up with new clothes, light up lamps and candles inside and outside and they also do family prayer. Somewhere people are meet with each other at night and do prayer with society and neighborhood.   

After family prayer, we follow firework. Children are excited about firework. Next, we are eating Special dinner together. It’s including sweets and we exchange of gifts betweet family member and friends.
