We all know this called riddle and It's very interesting. All
countries have their riddle. However, we should use different ways to think, because
different countries have various languages. Thus, we should follow it when we
answer the riddle. How to solve a riddle when it is English? From my point of
view, we should know every definition from a word. For the third riddle as an
example, the answer is the river bank. We all know “bank” means a financial
institution, and other means along the side of river. Also, this one is suitable
for any riddle that comes from different area. We need to think a lot even it
is not very normal and logical, every answer may possible.
Finally, do you know the answer from the picture?

Well, I also agree with your idea. Perhaps there are three reasons:1.It is a simple riddle, so it may nor very widely. 2.The author gives us a small hint about the answer. 3. When we compare with the bank, a river bank should very poor because the bank means real money and the river bank just a place.
ReplyDeleteAbout Chinese riddle, it is the same when the riddle is about an object or something. For instance, when the riddle describes an animal, we will know it very clearly. The only different place is we should know lots of words about Chinese. For example, "The Emperor's new clothes", we should answer only one word. The answer is “袭”（xi）. This word consists of“龙”and “衣”. “龙” means the Emperor(This word actually means dragon, however, the dragon was described the Emperor in the history of China) and“衣” means the clothes. I don't know whether or not I explain it clearly. In fact, it's very difficult we need to know a lot or think more time and get the answer from many words. In the Lantern Festival, it is one of the activity.
Last sentence, I mean we usually answer some riddle in the Lantern Festival.
