The human brain consists of two halves, the right brain and
the left brain, termed as “hemispheres”. The brain’s right hemisphere controls
the muscles on the left side of the body, while the left hemisphere controls
the muscles on the right side of the human body. The concept of right brain and
left brain thinking developed from the research of a Nobel price winner
psychobiologist, Roger W. Sperry. He discovered that 'the human brain has two
very different ways of thinking'. The shapes of these two parts are similar but
differences are in their functions. The left brain controls language,
calculation and logical thinking. The right brain controls creativity,
imagination and artistic senses. The left and right hemispheres of our brain
process information in different ways (they communicate with one another via
corpus collosum) but these two sides of our brain work together in our everyday
life.
